Tidewater Historical Restoration Initiative Featured by WHRO

We are grateful to announce that Tidewater Historical Restoration Initiative (THRI) was recently featured by WHRO, highlighting our mission to document, research, and share the stories behind historic places across the Tidewater region.

The feature showcased THRI’s efforts to bring attention to overlooked historic sites through photography, archival research, and community engagement. By recording the current conditions and histories of these places, we hope to highlight their cultural significance and ensure that their stories remain part of our region’s future.

Since our founding, THRI has worked to document historic buildings, neighborhoods, and landmarks throughout Hampton Roads. Each location represents a unique chapter of our shared history, and our projects aim to create a lasting record of places that are often overlooked or at risk of being forgotten.

We would like to thank WHRO for helping share the importance of historic preservation and giving us the opportunity to introduce our work to a wider audience.

This recognition inspires us to continue expanding our research, documenting more historic sites, building partnerships, and engaging the community in preserving Tidewater’s history.
