THRI Featured by Virginian Pilot

We are proud to share that The Virginian-Pilot recently featured the Tidewater Historical Restoration Initiative (THRI), bringing greater attention to our mission of documenting, researching, and preserving the stories of historic places throughout Hampton Roads.
The coverage highlights our efforts to shed light on overlooked historic sites through photography, archival research, and civic engagement. From historic buildings to entire neighborhoods, we document the places that have shaped our region and raise awareness of their cultural and historical importance.
Through our work, THRI aims to create a lasting record of Tidewater’s heritage as encouraging greater public interest in preserving places that might otherwise remain forgotten. We believe understanding our past is essential to protecting our communities' stories for future generations.
We sincerely thank The Virginian-Pilot for sharing our work and helping bring the importance of historic preservation to a wider audience. This milestone encourages us to keep expanding our documentation efforts, strengthening community partnerships, and working toward a future where Tidewater’s historic places and their stories receive the recognition they deserve.
Thank you to everyone who has supported THRI as we continue documenting and preserving our region's history. We are going to host our first clean up soon, along with interviews of locals to further expand our archive. Please let us know if you are interested!
